I Have A Hope

The song was written by Tommy Walker. Tommy has led worship at Christian Assembly in Los Angeles, California with his pastor, Mark Pickerill, since 1990. He has traveled with Promise Keepers, Greg Laurie Harvest Crusades and Franklin Graham.
He has also been privileged to serve with such church leaders as Jack Hayford, Bill Hybels and Rick Warren. He has recorded worship projects for Maranatha! Music, Integrity Music, and Get Down Ministries.
He has written over 100 songs that are currently being tracked by CCLI and are being sung in churches around the world, including “He Knows My Name,” “Only A God Like You,” “That's Why We Praise Him,” “Lord I Believe In You,” “Mourning Into Dancing,” “Break Through,” “This is What Christmas Means to Me,” and his latest song, “I Have a Hope.”
Tommy writes “ I was serving at a church that serves meals to the homeless and was so taken with the hopelessness in the eyes of the people I was serving. They looked like they had given up on life, just existing, like they were waiting to die. I thought, Lord, what is it that you want to say to them? I was inspired to write a song that encourages them and other hopeless people like them to declare the promises of God over their life. It’s one thing to have someone tell you that there’s hope, it’s another to speak words of hope and promise out of your own mouth with a sense of faith and God’s assurance. After I wrote it I went back and had the privilege of singing this song over them. On a more personal level, when I wrote this song the circumstances of my life were telling me that my ministry influence was only going to be shrinking. I was actually feeling a bit discouraged about this, but then God, as if I had nothing to do with writing it, ministered a renewed sense of destiny and hope to me through this song.”
