Holy Is the Lord

The song "Holy is the Lord" is based on the sixth chapter of Isaiah, and the verses come from Nehemiah 8 where the people lifted their hands and responded "Amen and Amena" after the word of God was read. Below is a link to site were you can actually here the writer, Chris Tomlin talking about how God inspired him to write this song, and how God has used it in his minstry.

Chris Tomlin is a Christian worship leader and songwriter from Grand Saline, Texas, United States. He is a staff member at Austin Stone Community Church and is signed to EMI's sixstepsrecords. Tomlin also leads worship at many Passion events. Some of his most well known songs are "How Great Is Our God", "Famous One", and "Holy Is The Lord", and "Forever". According to the Christian Copyright Licensing International, Tomlin is the most sung Christian artist in the United States. Even as a small town Texan boy pounding out new tunes with his rag-tag garage band, Chris Tomlin had been blessed with a passion for purpose. He wanted to be more than just another guy with a song. As he grew, he became even more aware of the fact that everything-what we do, who we are-exists only for God's glory. "God is a mystery beyond our comprehension," says Tomlin. "We can't figure God out. He won't be boxed in. He's bigger than all our questions and bigger than our answers. And when our lives become aligned with Him, we see life in a different light, hearts are restored and people are healed." People are not meant to be worshiped because we're always going to mess up," he says. "Our culture longs to ascribe value to so many things that aren't of God, so anytime we can focus on God, and through that help people do the same, we're doing what we were put here for. And that's a powerful thing."
